Black Friday Guide to Saving at Walmart

Walmart is famous for its low prices, and just when you think they can’t get any better, Black Friday struts in with the savings. Find everything on sale here across every department, from apparel to toiletries to groceries.

This Black Friday, skip the huge crowds and long lines of people waiting to snag the hottest deals at Walmart stores. Opt to stay cozy on your couch and find the best savings. Instead of running from the makeup aisle over to the shoe department and hoping to find what you want before the woman next to you grabs the last one, just click from one department to the next and scroll.

Here are a few reasons shopping online at Walmart this Black Friday is the way to go, along with some tips for saving extra money.

Price Check With Multiple Browsers

While it really does seem like Walmart has the lowest prices on things, that isn’t always the case, especially around Black Friday when other stores are giving incredibly huge discounts to make up for their higher prices the rest of the year. Because Walmart’s prices are usually significantly lower to begin with, they may not be giving the biggest discount on some items.

You should always open up a few browser tabs so you can quickly look the item up to see what it’s being sold for at a few other stores. This will let you quickly and easily find the best price.

Plan Ahead and Set Limits

Make a list of the items you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to spend on them. Then, make sure you stick to the list. Set yourself a maximum spending limit, and don’t go over it. This will keep you from getting caught up in sales and spending more money than you should on things you don’t really need or even want once the shopping high wears off.

Watch for Sneak Peek Sale Info

Sometimes stores will give you a little teaser of the big savings you can expect for the rest of the sale, like showing you one attractive item with a huge discount. If the sneak peek sale item is something you’ve been looking for, now is your chance to see how good of a deal you’ll really be getting. Compare the sale price to the item’s usual price, both at that store and others. You may find that you really wouldn’t be saving too much money with that sneak peek item, and you’ll be able to focus on finding better deals at that store, as well as a better deal elsewhere on that particular item.

Use Store Credit Cards

If you don’t have a store credit card, it’s totally worth checking to see what perks you’ll get just for signing up. Sometimes stores will run promotions during busy shopping times where you can get lots of perks for using your store credit card. You may be able to get an additional percentage off your order, which can really help you save on Black Friday shopping.

If you do have a store credit card, don’t forget to use it to keep saving up your rewards points!

Earn Cash Back at Ebates

With Ebates, you’re basically making money by spending money at Walmart. Ebates Cash Back gives you a percentage back of every eligible dollar you spend at Walmart. This Cash Back is money that you earn just for shopping online. Ebates regularly has bonus sale days and events where you can earn an even higher percentage back at certain stores, so always check Ebates to see what the current Cash Back rate is or if there are any upcoming bonus days worth waiting for.

Use Coupon and Promo Codes

Shopping online has so many perks, like no crowds, no shoes required, and the ability to jump from store to store to compare prices in seconds, but there’s another huge perk that may outdo them all — coupon codes. I don’t remember the last time I paid full price or paid for shipping during an online shopping excursion. This is all thanks to coupons and promo codes that are floating all over the Internet, just waiting to save you so much money. The easiest way to find all of these codes in one convenient place is to go to the Walmart page at Ebates. You’ll have access to so many codes that are good for everything from free shipping to dollars off items found in your favorite departments. Ebates also offers Cash Back, which you can use on top of all of your other ways to save!

Keep Calm and Shop On

Try not to get too worked up the night before the sale starts. It’s easy to picture everything selling out, or to imagine yourself sleeping through the early bird sale you’re planning on spending hours shopping at. Don’t let other shoppers, or your own mind, stress you out. If you shop and are in a panic, you’ll end up spending money on things you don’t need or want, placing too many spontaneous orders, and won’t even enjoy the experience. Just remember — the things you’re hoping to buy will be available after Black Friday, and at a price you’ll most likely be fine paying.

Sure, savings are nice, but if you by chance miss something before it sells out, it isn’t the end of the world. A slow, calm shopper may be able to find better deals, better discount coupon codes, and take the time to join a rewards program or open a store credit card for even more perks and savings. In some circumstances, these savings may easily come out to more than the Black Friday deals.
