11 Ways to Save Big at JCPenney
JCPenney is a staple of the retail world. The department store went through an overhaul recently to transform itself in an increasingly crowded retail space — offering more discounts and value to customers, working on better customer service and improving the shopping experience. Check out our favorite tips for saving big at JCPenney.
1. Always check Ebates first
Ebates members get an average of $5 Cash Back per order at JCPenney. It’s free to sign up for Ebates and you get a $10 Cash Bonus for doing so. Do your shopping online and use Ebates to find JCPenney promo codes and Cash Back. Then when you’re ready, pick up your items in store.
2. Can’t reach $99? Ship to store
If you can’t hit the $99 free shipping minimum, just choose at least $25 worth of eligible products online and you can ship it to a JCPenney store for free. You’ll get an email when your order has arrived at the store.
3. Free same day pickup
Shop online and look for items marked with FREE Same Day Pickup and select that option at checkout by 3 PM local time and 1 PM on Sundays. When your items are ready, you’ll receive an email. Make your way to a JCPenney store and let a store associate know you are there to pick up an online order.
4. Take advantage of JCPenney’s price matching policy
JCPenney will match the price of any brick-and-mortar or online retailer, as long as it’s not a marketplace or third-party seller. To take advantage of the price-matching policy, bring an ad or other proof of the lower price to a JCPenney store within 14 days of purchase and they will beat that price by 5%.
Online purchases can be price-matched by calling the JCPenney Customer Care line. You can still apply eligible coupons and discounts after a price match has been made.
5. Browse the JCPenney Coupons page
This coupons page houses all current promo codes that can be used in-store, online or both. If you use Ebates, however, you don’t have to go through the hassle of applying every coupon to your order. 6. Understand the coupon system

7. Download the JCPenney app

Use the app to order online and pick up in store, manage your JCPenney credit card account and more. The JCPenney app also provides special in-store experiences based on your location, and you can even price-check items with the built-in barcode scanner.
8. Hunt for clearance items in store or online
JCPenney frequently discounts merchandise to clearance prices both in store and online. There’s a special section on JCPenney.com labeled “Clearance” where you’ll find the best deals online. If you’re shopping in a store, head to the clearance racks. You’ll often find items marked down as much as 80%. Pink stickers indicate a final clearance price.
9. Sign up for the JCPenney credit card
Sign up for a JCPenney credit card and choose between 5% off major appliances and 20% off select apparel, shoes, accessories, fine jewelry, home decor and salon products. Cardholders get special perks, such as special financing and access to more than 100 special savings days each year.
10. Join JCPenney Rewards
JCPenney Rewards is free to join, and you’ll receive a $10 gift certificate for every 200 points earned and a special gift on your birthday. JCPenney cardholders earn rewards twice as fast as people without the card. Each dollar spent with your JCPenney credit card earns two points, while all other methods of payment earn one point.
